- Re: Players to be released
Yes, we need to enhance the squad. Are we going to do a Forest and sign a completely new team? No. For a start, most of the better players in Forest's promoted team were loaners who needed replacing. Are we genuinely likely to risk signing enough players to potentially dilute or imbalance our squad mentality? Are we realistically going to be blowing many championship clubs out of the water in terms of transfer fees or wages? Given that we're almost certainly the favourites to be relegated how attractive are we to prospective players when they're likely looking at a wage cut after one season?
Yes the stadium is costed and funded and it would be built anyway but the money we'll receive over the next few years is guaranteed and insulates us against another COVID or continuation and/or worsening of the Ukraine situation so we'd be stupid to spunk the lot on a gamble that we might be in a position to get a bit more.
To be frank, it absolutely reeks of the opposite of how we'd usually do business.
Cheers, Jim
