I am working on my 1898 2E, the ejectors were not consistent, I believe I see the issue with the tumblers, but I am also concerned the flat spring is partially broken off as it has a rough, uneven edge on the flat side. I was unpleasantly surprised when I found there were no drawings in the Plans and Specification book. I have searched the forum archive and found some old posts one from Skip Dunlap that he had tumblers made and another from Jim Akins willing to trace his flat spring...but those posts were years ago. I do CAD/Engineering drawings and would be willing to draw all these parts up so they can be recorded and available now and in the future, but unlike mine I would need good parts to design from. Anyone that is willing and has a good set of calipers, please reach out to me and I will put these together since the original drawings don't seem to exist. gavinwilliams0@me.com
Gavin, the first style ejectors used the mainspring in the lock, the lifters and cocking rods to eject the spent shells. The forarm housing utilized the split ejector/s. These ejectors parts are non-existant now.. Years ago Skip Dunlap (RIP) had some made, and I was fortunate to get a pair for my 2E. Also the for-end metal was a little wider than the second style ejctors that housed the springs instead of using the locks mainspring. I have pictures but no dimensions
David, I am familiar with the mechanism, I had read Skip's post from years ago, and sorry to hear he passed. This goes back to my original idea that we need to catalog these now before any more knowledge is lost. I have already drawn out the ejectors in CAD as well as the Ejector Guide Block. I would like to get the measurements from a working Ejector Extractor (only need one since they are mirrored)...I believe my right one is close as it works most of the time but would like to verify measurements on a known good one. The flat spring I would also like to get measurements for to verify...looking in the Plans and Specs book which has a picture of all the components, it looks like the spring does not have a square end in the picture so mine maybe close...I have figured out all screws, pins, washer, nut, forend spring ect....
