10ga problem

Howdy. First visit to the site in several years. I pulled my 10ga out to shoot some wood ducks the other day, and now after cleaning it this morning I can’t get the barrels to seat and close. Lever is to the side. Baffling me. Know this is something easy but I haven’t fiddled with this gun in a while and can’t remember if there is some trick. Seems like maybe the pins on the extractor wheel are interfering but I can’t get them in their slots. The tip of the barrels is hitting the receiver at the top of the slot.

Have you tried rotating the pins on the cocking roll; if these things are rotated too far rearwards they won't align with the cuts in the frame and allow the barrels to seat. This cocking roll device can sometimes be a bit difficult, so wiggle the cocking roll a bit and take your time; you'll know when you've got it right. Good shooting with the wood ducks.

The part you are referring to is called the "joint check". In order for the joint check pin to go into the slot in the receiver once the barrel is off is that you have to rotate the joint check to about 3:30 to have it aligned to the slot.

Once it starts sometimes you have to pull the barrels towards the muzzle end to seat them.

Once you get the pins that stick out of the joint check in the slots, pull the barrels away from the frame and then you should be able to close the gun. Best, Mike
