    Oops, my fingers got a head of my brain. The action described above is correct when the gun is fully assembled. But you are faced with reattaching the forend with the hammer down. You will notice that the top ejector rim has a groove. When you reattach the forend and cock the gun the top groove will pass over the protruding firing pin in most cases. So don't worry trying to cock the gun before it is fully assembled. The cocking technique on double guns has no application-or need-because the gun can be reassembled uncocked and obviously there is no second cocking rod on which to obtain leverage.
