John, You will have to cock the rod before you put it back together. I normally use a 4" crescent wrench to do this or just a pair of pliers. I will put a rag on it so as not to scar it up. I think there is some info for doing this on the FAQ on the site. Mike Harris lcsmithdeluxe@gmail.com
