David, I took the drawing for the cocking plate to my gunsmith and had him make up a replacement. Turns out he had another L C Smith in the shop so had an original part to compare his creation to. Shot the gun at my monthly Oldtimers trap shoot today. Works like a charm! Now my "Wall Hanger" is a "Shooter". Thanks for your help! By the way, he has an L C Smith hammer gun with Damascus Barrels for sale. It's a very basic model - an "F Grade" I think. Looks good and locks up tight. Asking $700 which seems reasonable but I just don't feel comfortable shooting a Damascus barrel and am not in the market for a wall hanger. I'd welcome your thoughts on this issue (shooting a Damascus barrel as well as the price).
