    7300 p.s.i. loads ? Archived Message

    Gentlemen,
I have (3) 12ga Elsies. One is a 1905 00 grade, (1) is a 1911 00 grade and the 3rd is 1947 FW. All have good wood with no cracks.

I currently load/shoot 1oz spreader loads (6,7.5 & 8's) using the polywad disks for quail. My load is out of Hodgdon's manual with 15.3 grains of Clays powder @ 6,100 psi @ 1125fps. They have served me well for years. I'm considering "bumpimg" up to 16.5 grains(next load listed) of Clays to 1180fps @ 7,300 psi.
Is 7,300 psi too much for my old gals ?
    Thanks, Danny
