Marlin made a limited number (2,038) of Field Models 1968-71. Note that they called them "Models" rather than Grades. Also, they made 189 Deluxe Models in 1971. All were 12 gauges with 28-inch barrels. They have a FWM serial number prefix. The LCSCA has the production records for these shotguns and write letters of authentication for them.
Marlin imported SxS and Over/Under shotguns with the L.C. Smith name from Italy and Spain 2005-2009. These were box lock shotguns with false side plates in 12, 20, 28, and .410 and are not considered to be L.C. Smith shotguns.
