Never miss with an L C Smith Archived Message

Saturday was Ladies day at Delaware County Field and Stream. After the open house had finished I had one of the guys from the table trap range stay to give me some pointers. I hadn't fired a shotgun in over 20 years. I tried shooting with both eyes open, but I had trouble with the sight picture. He told me he shoots with only one eye open, as well as does a champion skeet shooter from our club. Everything changed when I started using one eye, The first clay was a hit, he kept throwing them and I kept hitting them. Finally he says "lets try a double", I hit them both! I didn't "smoke" them, but I was breaking them, I need more practice, and need to work on my lead. I really like this gun!
The only issue I had with the gun, I had taken it apart again to work on the safety slide, because it had been loose, I found the spring was in the wrong position, and corrected that, I reassembled the gun the way I had previously, and now the safety does not work, I now realize that the gun has a 3 position safety. Do I need to do something differently when I assemble the gun? For shooting clays I don't have a problem with the safety not functioning, but I would prefer to have it operational when I take it hunting.
    Thanks, Myles
