    We might mention that a .410-bore gun made in 1926 would have started life chambered for the 2 1/2 inch .410-bore shells, which at that time carried a payload of 3/8 ounce of shot. The 3-inch .410-bore shell wasn't introduced until 1933 when it was introduced along with the Winchester Model 42 pump. Very quickly other manufacturers began chambering their .410-bores for 3-inch shells and many existing guns were back to their factories for rechambering or bored out by local gunsmiths.
