I was looking through several of my fathers LC's over the weekend. I came across, again, his 0 grade with serial numbers that place it around 1888. But this 0 grade has a mismatched forearm, as the forearm metal is wider than the Syracuse regular sized frame and also wider than his field grade 12 gauges and the serial number is mismatched. Can I assume that he has a 10 gauge forearm? Forearm has a single number 1 serial number. Did LC stamp serial numbers on replacement forearms? What does he have?
