About 6 years ago, I took an 1899 LC Smith Grade 2 to South Dakota for pheasants. It was a 2 5/8 in chambered gun with crown steel barrels. I used B&P high pheasant (2.5 in) shells with #6 shot. I was with a 3 in MAG crowd. They truly believed my gun and shells wouldn't kill pheasants. After three days the group was astounded by the results birds in a wide variety of shooting situations were killed cleanly, no cripples, no runners. I would expect the same from RST shells, polywad, or my current hand loads. 1oz @ 6700 psi. I don't shoot anything larger or more powerful in any of my vintage doubles. Now unfortunately I don't hunt waterfowl and wouldn't use them for Turkey but for pheasant, chukar and all other small game and upland critters I hunt it works just fine for me.
