    I've had the same issue on one of mine and filed a very, VERY small amount from the cocking plate. It did help get the gun to where it was easier to load.

    The problem is, if too much is removed, the gun doesn't reliably recock when opened. Aside from having a gun that doesn't recock, you risk setting pins down on a live shell when you do close the gun on the next round. Could that cause it to go off when closed w/any force? Not sure..but I don't want to find out.

    I'd be careful. In my opinion, a certain amount of this "springiness" (surely there is a technical name for this feature) you describe is designed into the bottom of the cocking motion of the gun.

    Maybe I'm full of it. I'd like to hear what others think.
