    Wen I look up the cited serial number, I find that the gun could have been made in either 1900 or 1925. I would guess that either date is possible based on your Grandfathers date of birth. To determine the actual date it will probably be necessary to remove the lock plates and check the design of the internal parts, as the was an change in the bridle that holds the inside pivot parts for the hammer and sear between 1900 and i925.
