garage find L.C. Smith Archived Message

I just bought a box full of shotgun parts that turned out to be an L.C. Smith SxS

I have researched some but am stumped on a couple of things

The serial number 3336xx with 00 underneath along with the rib stamp Hunter Arms Co Fulton New York should make it a OO grade made in 1911

The problem I am having is that the bluing is, other than some minor rust and scratches from being pushed around a shed for a few years, perfect
And the lock up is as tight as I have ever seen on any new shotgun

The side plates are no case hardened but the same rich royal blues as the rest of the metal
And the cracked buttstock was completely stripped down
Is it possible or probable that this has been restored or was in the process

I would like to finished the restoration and was wondering
Will any L.C. Smith stock fit on it (I don't like the pistol grip) plus it doesn't match well with the thin fore grip

Should I get the replacement part set that includes original Case Hardened side plates for $125
