    Gordon, I purchased a 20 ga. Ideal with 30" barrels a few months back with the same oval shaped 3" stamp. I posted the same question and there were responses sugesting that 3" 20's are rare but probably not suited for todays 3" ammo.
    I was asked if the origin of the gun was CA (it was not) linking it to the duck club you mention.
    Mine is at Turnbull having a little work done and I will post pictures when I get it back.
    I intend to order a letter to see if mine was built as a 3" gun or sent back to the factory for re-proof.I have now heard of a total of five L.C. 20's w/ 3" chambers on this site. FYI
