JL, I did not take any pictures of the stock, before or after. The stock of this nice old gun appeared sound, but a careful examination with magnification revealed at least one very minor crack starting to form at about 4 0'clock aft of the left lock plate. At the suggestion of revdocdrew on this forum, I took the gun to a master gunsmith with a solid reputation for working on vintage doubles and he took care of the situation. This gun has about 85% original blue, about the same for the colors on the frame, and the the lockplate screw is very slightly marred. The lockplates have very nice color, the checkering shows very little wear, and the gun locks up tight with the lever to the ROC. Apart from the checkering, the wood shows some small dings and scratches, appropriate to a century old gun, but it would refinish to a very nice level, should I decide to go that route. I have a slip on pad, which gives me just on the long side of 14 3/4 from the front trigger and I may just take it to the Vintagers in its present condition.
I guess you can tell, I do like double guns, but this is the first American gun I have owned. Previously my tastes have run to Spanish SLEs and Winchesters from Japan. At three score and ten, I am still learning, PTL. Bill
