Thanks fellas, I started this sweet little 16 Ga 2E about 6 months ago and am just getting back to it. Lots of glass bed to do and I took out a bunch of wood under the tail of the trigger guard to set a hunk of hickory up in there for strength. Everything is about done and I was going to reset the tail today and couldn't remember if there was a number there or not. Now that I know where to look I can see the remains of the number in the forend. Appreciate the information. Thanks, Jack
