Jack, Yes, the forend wood is also stamped on originals that I have seen.. The number stamping on any I have seen is found at the small end under the metal where the 2 back screws hold the metal in. It requires complete removal of the forend metal to see this. The numbers are usually very small and usually some on the left and continuing on the right side, all the numbers are right around where the screw holes are at the very back of the wood.
