    1918 Fulton 12ga Archived Message

Hello all, I have a few questions about my "Fulton" by Hunter Arms that maybe you can clear up for me. It was my grand fathers, and I was under the impression that it had little if any value and was basically a no name or common shotgun like a Stevens or something. Anyways, that's not the question. How rare is it to have a Fulton with the etched reciever, as opposed to the smooth one with "Fulton" engraved on it? I've seen a lot of 16ga's with the etched reciever but almost no 12ga's. Also, I was wondering what's the difference between a regular "fulton" and a "fulton special" or "Hunter Special" and how do I know which one I have?

Another thing, this gun worked 100% when I got it but it wouldn't open 100% on it's own. You had to hold it open while you put shells in it because the barrels would only stay about 90% open. Well after a day at the range, 70 or so shells through it it stopped cocking. After every shot you have to take the forend off, remove the barrels, and then put it back together for the cocking mechanism to engage. What's wrong with it, and how can I fix it? I love this gun, and I love shooting it... But I'm in the market for another one so I don't shoot this one to death.
