    There is no question that more time was lavished on the high grade LC Smiths resulting in more attractive finish and over all appearance. However, I have never heard it asserted that the high grade guns shot or handled better than the field grade guns. I agree that, as between fluid steel barrels, there was no substantial difference in the strength of the various designations used on the Smith guns. I suspect that, as between Damascus barrel types, the differences were more cosmetic than structural. It is my impression that inferior quality components were not used on any Smith of any grade.
