    Thank you Sgt for that detailed explanation. Not only does that provide a lot of information but leaves me with a greater appreciation of the quality in the barrels. I've never even seen a high quality LCS but now I do want to. And I had never given any thought of the quality of workmanship on the barrels of the gun but only thought of the wood and the engraving as sign of higher quality. Below is just an explanation of "rhr". I saw the term a lot working on nuclear subs as many shafts and valves internals had high "rhr" values as they had to be smooth to prevent any leakage and smooth operation.

    "The surface smoothness required shall be expressed by a numerical surface "roughness-height-rating" (RHR) in micro inches. The value of the number is maximum as specified and indicates the maximum permissible sustained height rating. Any lesser rating is acceptable. A micro inch is one millionth (0.000001) inch."
