My Father received a L.C. Smith gun as a gift from an elderly neighbor when i was a young girl. My Father has always treasured the gun and says "it is by far the best squirrel gun i ever used". Dad is now 76 years old, his health is failing and he loves to remember the good days. He never has known any more about this gun than his father-in-law told him. That he would never receive a better gift. I pulled out my laptop and told him we would see what we could find out about this "great" gun. His is a double barrel, has no ornate decoration, has L.C.Smith on each side, has Hunter Arms Co. Fulton, New York on the top center. It has a crisscross pattern uner the barrels on the upper forearm. The same pattern is on the grip section of the stock. It has a white ring and a black stockplate. I can't find any other marks to describe it. It is in great, clean shape. Can anyone give my Dad an estimate on its manufacture year and just an approximate value for his knowledge only. He is not interested in selling or trading his gun, would just like to know anything that might enlighten him on it. He received this in about 1962. Thank-you for sharing your time and knowledge. Oh also, my grandfather told Dad that these guns were handmade, is that correct? Sincerely, Lisa Wise, Dwights daughter
