Often guns that had some cosmetic defect were marked as "seconds" and sold to employees etc. at a reduced price. Tom Kidd did an article on A.H. Fox Gun Co. seconds in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Six, Issue 2. I've seen Fox, Ithaca and L.C. Smith guns marked as seconds, but I've never seen a Parker Bros. or Lefever so marked.
