Jim: steel shells have come a long way, with much thicker plastic shot cups to protect the bores. The concern is scoring of the barrel with the hard shot, and the same applies to Remington's Hevi-Shot. A fella on the PGCA site recently said he shoots steel shot through a CHE with Bernard damascus without barrel damage, but I sure wouldn't. There are few options for shooting non-toxic loads with the loss of Bismuth and Kent Tungsten-Matrix, but RST just introduced NiceShot Non-Toxic http://www.rstshells.com/niceshot.htm
