I purchsed an L. C. Smith - Field Grade - 12 Ga. Shotgun. The gun has been restored and there is no L. C. Smith Field Grade or Hunter Arms on the top of the barrels. The S/N is the same on the bottom side of the barrels as the rest of the gun. Did they always have a rolled stamp on top of the barrels or do you think in the restoration the names were removed? On the left lock plate there is no L. C. Smith but there is on the right lock plate but very dim. According to the S/N it was made in 1928.
