Robert, You have obviously thought through your quandry regarding restoration value and seem prepared to take the beating you would take in the resale market. My opinion, for what it's worth is that appreciation due to it's rarity will somewhat soften the blow of restoration "down the road". However, the barrel length and choke configuration, both of which are suspect for a Pigeon, may have an even greater negative effect than the restoration.
