As you know 90 % of your success at breaking trap targets is between your ears. That said I have not seen much difference between side-by-side and single barrel results: they all smoke when you hit them right. But Beretta's, and all the rest of the moderns do also-when they are hit in the center of the pattern. The full and extra full chokes of the Smith's may make a little more smoke-I like to believe!
