My dove hunt on Sunday was a Spanish adventure as well (Uggie 28 and Arrieta 12), but lots of birds were flying along the banks of the Arkansas and even camping in the Black-eyed Susans (the colloquial name for a local form of wild sunflowers), so when you got a lull in the action you could march through the Susans and jump shoot 'em (Great fun! But damnedably-hard to find downed birds in those tall weeds.)
We are allowed a (rather-generous?) limit of 15 here, plus the Asian-eared ones aren't counted towards our bag, so....it's a darn-good thing I just acquired A.D. Livingston's new Fish & Game cookbook. It's got a whole chapter of new (at least to me) dove recipes to play with.
