Rob, First, I'd get some good measurements of the chokes. You do not say if the barrels were cut or their length. "Elsies" typically left the factory F&F unless ordered otherwise. If indeed your "open" barrel has been honed out, you are sort of stuck unless you wish to go the choke tube route or do lots and lots of handloading and testing to find a combination that may give you a tighter pattern.
