    Ron: Since you have the checkering process pretty much understood,you know each diamond is cut four times from four different directions to form the diamond point. Using a single line cutter of the correct LIP you can either clean up the flat cut or spend the extra time and point up the entire pattern. It is basically a personal preference. To be original, it just needs a cleaning cut. If you plan to keep the gun and hunt with it I would point it up, it looks better, feels better and I think it wears better.
