    Gary,
Kinda been in the wings on this one. Got a neighbor with a kid at Tech.( kids fine, incidently) Got two young graduate engineers from Tech on my staff, one male and one female. Live in VA. Beach, and got Blue Million Tech alumni in my ZipCode. Real interesting how this thing plays out. Here we are facing the most horrific example of domestic human carnage perpetrated by a single person in modern history, and I get the feeling alot of folks want to blame the other political party for the incident. The young lady that works for me is a card carrying conservative. The young man, only a Liberal as long as the sun sets and rises. The young lady, a 3rd generation engineering grad from Tech, has been in tears for the last 24 hours, wondering what else could have been done to have prevented the ultimate outcome. The young man, continuously badmouthing the current administration for its " Wild West" mentality that surely led us to the unfortunate outcome that we all face today.
Me, my political affiliations don't swing as much with the party as they do the candidate.Although for some unknown reason I've always fallen in on the Republican ticket. Suffice it to say Hillary aint my man!
Bottom line here is that the Tech nightmare wasn't the result of either Party's shortcomings. No amount of gun friendly or gun hating legislation in the world would have unquestionably prevented yesterdays tragedy. Even if CCW permits had been enabled on campus, its quite possibe that no defensive weapons would have been within helping distance yesterday. Remember that only 33 people were killed amongst 25 thousand potential victims. A psycho is a psycho, regardless of what their voter registration card says.
Lets all just pray for the families on this one, and hope that the "other side" isn't able to make it even easier for the bad guy's of the world to replicate yesterdays events. Sooner or later common sense will rule.
Just my opinion. Sorry it took so long to get across!
