Welcome to the Worshipful Society of Sweet Elsie Sixteen Love Slaves Jason You'll love your gun and might check out the 16g Society website http://16ga.com/home.html It's not complicated, fully opening the gun is what cocks the hammers, and unless cocked, the rotating cocking rods are in a position that prevents the forend from being reassembled. Walt Schissel sells a tool to re-cock the hammers with the forend off, but a small crescent wrench works also. http://www.doublegun.com/waltschiessl.html I'd suggest getting some A-Zoom snap caps and letting the hammers down for storage. Be sure and check the chamber length of your 16, LC didn't lengthen to 2 3/4" until the early 40s.
