Drew, your point is well taken. Every L.C. I've opened up over the past few years shows 1) No sealant on the internal wood. 2) Significant oil soaking of the bare wood. 3) At least one through and through fissure/crack. Granted I "see" what is sent to me for work, but I suspect the vast majority of "sweet elsies" have similar problems. The thing that amazes me is that with such problems they still hold together and shoot. Glass bedding helps but nothing can change the fact that these guns have less surface area to absorb recoil and hence tend to be more ?"delicate"? Best, Bill
