The second sentence in my 7:28 pm post is at best misleading and probably incorrect. "Both the 1st and 2nd type joint check or barrel stop was used on extractor guns only to the best of my knowledge". What I meant to say was that the 1st type barrel stop was used only on extractor guns between (approx. 1883 & 1901). The 2nd type was used on both extractor and auto-ejector guns between 1901 & 1913. It was apparently adopted about the same time the 2nd type AE system was patented in 1901.It should be noted that most guns during this period did not have the 2nd type barrel stop feature and nearly all the guns that had it that I have examined have been AE guns.
