    Mornin' Dan;
    Sorry, but I don't know of any "draw filing and hand poslishing manuals". Am sure there are many folks on this site who are much more qualified than I to help you out with this.
    Would suggest that you ask the local gunsmith if he has any old "junk" recievers, tell him what you are going to do, and I'll bet he will be happy to help you out. Myself, I started with old "farm sale beaters" - (model 12s and 97s etc), that were stil solid and shootable, but cosmeticly shot. As far as the metal work, it didn't take very long to figure out that in order to keep the flats "flat", and the edges crisp and sharp, they had to be worked by HAND - that being, no buffers, belt sanders, grinders, etc. Always had many questions for our gunsmith - (retired master tool and die maker). he would tell me, "Try it". Still tells me that. Good advice. You can't learn it by talking about it. The files and the metal will tell you when you are getting it right. Don't be afraid to "Try it". Takes time to do it this way, and to develop the "feel", but the results are worth it. PRACTICE -- (on old, worthless parts of course.)
    A year or so ago, when I bought this old LC, and went over to the gunsmith's to pick it up, he said "what in the hell are you gonna do with that old tomato stake?" Now he is grinning from ear to ear, and truth be known, is prouder of it than I am.
    PRACTICE - and ask questions - (no better place to ask than on this forum, in my humble opinion). Hope this helps.
    Good Luck;
    Bill Kraft
