    Andrew, sounds like the ole girl needs some serious rehab! Oil soaked wood is terrible to deal with as glue/glas/etc. just don't stick. Given the total, overall condition, I'd suggest, depending on the depth of your pocket, a complete re-do of at least the stock and forend. You may find someone who will do a "shade tree mechanic" fix-it but soon you will be back to the same state. These old girls are high maintainence unfortunately. Another option and probably cheaper is to find another field grade in better shape and retire this gun. Good Luck, Dr. BILL
