Ed, the only way to be accurate is to have a really good "elsie" gunsmith evaluate the condition and appraise it. These values here are from the Blue Book of Gun Values, 26th Edition: Grade 1, approx. 10,000 mfg, 95% $1,950., $90% $1,600, 80% $1,300, 70% $1,050, 60% $950, 50% $850.
So as you can see he wants near the 90% range. In this range it is in near collectors condition. Is it really? To be original, and not refinished that is a hard gun to find. Not many "closet queens" out there. I would take a good look at the finish, the case colors, the wood should be excellent, no scratches, dings or blotchy finish, make sure the screws are good, not buggered up even a little for this price and condition, the barrels should have a good damascus pattern and finish, no scratches, pits, dents, etc. The bores should be clean, no pits inside. He should be able to tell you what the chokes are.
So as you can see there is a lot in determining condition. His percentage will definitely be different from yours.
I'm guessing that this is an internet sale, Does he give you a three (3) day trial period to send it back, if so, then I would look into finding a good "elsie" smith in your area in advance and then if you like and you can settle on a price, have the smith look at it.
One other thing, I would definitely have him send me better pictures, there is no reason to post bad pictures of a gun, only if you are trying to hide something.
Good luck and let us know.
