I hope all have had a wonderful holiday season, and are looking forward to a great new year. I had pretty much resigned myself to locking up the old family heirloom in the guncabinet for eternity due to the fact that I was convinced that the barrels were damascus, and the infamous crack in the stock adjacent to the reciever. I had mentioned the shotgun to the rangemaster at my local skeet/trap range and he asked me to bring it by so that he could see the old gal. Maybe it was the lighting, or maybe his eyes were better than mine, but he pointed out the almost invisible stamping of the word London on both of the barrels. There are also remnants of other words/letters in the vicinity, but no way to decipher. The words were either very lightly struck, or nearly obliterated during the original blueing prep, as I had looked for any indication of other than Damascus on several occasions with no luck.Happy Day, now she's back in the game. Does anyone have any idea how many 1912 0 grade shotguns were provided with London Steel barrels? I still don't want to shoot her until I address the crack in the stock. I plan to epoxy inject the crack, and assume that this would be best performed with the stock separated from the reciever. Can this be done without actually disassembling the reciever, I'd like to just remove the reciever from the wood if thats possible, as I never recall any mechanical problems with the shotgun as a child, and don't want to introduce any at this point in her career.
I read the forum every day, and really enjoy friendly banter over these old gals.
    Thanks,
    John
