Scott, you can use the serial number to identify the gun yourself by going to our "Home" page and going to the "shotgun" entry. From there, follow the intructions. Regarding safety of shooting, suggest you have gun looked at by someone who knows sxs's, particularly damascus barrels. Some folks cxhoose to shoot them, as a gunsmith, for reasons of liability, I do no recommend it. Welcome to our site! Merry Christmas. Dr. BILL
