Matt, congratulations and WELCOME to the wonderful and arcane fellowship of "Sweet Elsies". What to do??? Oh my, Oh me! As Rev. Drew says a checkup is due-at least. Certainly some sort of preservation is also in order. Restoration/upgrade, that is a personal decision based not in small part on the depth of your pocket. The only thing that would sortta upset me are the vice marks, however I think I could get used to them given the family history, etc. The ones I upgrade/restore, generally are selected by the owner for just that process. Not many have an extensive family history, they are purchased because they are mechanically sound and the owner wishes a custom classic American SxS at about 75% the cost of an Italian custom gun and 10% the cost of and English custom gun. So in 25 words or less, I'd give it a check-up, surface clean it, and shoot it all I wanted with appropriate low base loads. Good Luck! Dr. Bill
