Usally a day or two. Then wipe it off, and rub with fresh oil. Repeat has often as needed to reach the desired color. The process is not instant,but it excellerates the darkening of the pad. I usally fill a oval plastic ice cream tub like "Blue Bunny"(after finishing some of the sugarless Butter Pecan), with just enough Linseed Oil to cover the pad. Later just place the lid on the container till the next treatment. I've included a photo of a Silvers pad I have on a Lefever DSE that I used the Linseed Oil on.
