The reason for my asking the question is that I recently aquired a Grade 3 damascus barreled gun that I took to a local smith. I didn't have much confidence in the advice he gave but needed someone to look at the gun during my inspection period. When the chambers were measured, they were shorter than 2 3/4. The serial number of the gun is missing from Brophy's recap and doesn't come up on the site. Thanks to SGT's help, the gun is likley dated to 1899. The barrels of this gun are currently be refinished with Mr. Edmonds in MO. I have asked him to check, among other things, the chambers and verify their lengths. I await the info and will pass along to those interested.
