I have an old L.C. Smith / Hunter Arms 12 ga side by side that was my fathers. It has 26 in bbls, right bbl, a dime fits into the muzzel easily and just barely fits into the muzzel of the left bbl. Hunter Arms Co. Fulton, NY is stamped on the center rib behind a decorative insert. The bbls are crown steel,H.A. CO. Right sideplate has a woodcock in two circles and the left sideplate has a quail in two circles, L C Smith is engraved on each side. the serial # 8220 is engraved on the trigger guard. The gun is a dbl trigger, 3 position safety. The forestock has a patd date of May 28, 1901; the receiver has a patd date of mar 29 83. I think the gun is a grade 2E.
I used this gun Oct 20 2006 pheasant hunting and was rewarded with a fine meal, thanks to the LCSmith and my Chessie retriever.
If anyone can offer any information about my gun, I would appreciate it.
