Dear ed k--Dr. Bill is like my dear friend the late Russ Ruppel, nearly always right on, good advise. I will say that the S.W.Silvers pad was the standard factory pad for Smith's up until about 1924 and then the Hawkins model 25 became the standard. I have never seen an original Smith with the Galazan pad which has straight serrations. That pad was listed by the Hawkins Pad Co. ,as the model 32,designed for rifles not shotguns.
