Not sure how rare it is, but I have 4 Pigeon Guns with the 2nd type joint check (a.k.a. barrel stop):

Qty - DOM
1 - 1903 (3-pos safety)
1 - 1904 (no safety - "Live Bird" config)
2 - 1907 (2-pos safety)

All 4 have type 2 ejectors (banjo escutcheon).

Did you check behind the left lock plate to see if there is a "PE" stamped in the frame?
