HOT to double triggers

I have an all original 12 ga. 3E, 32" barrels, 3" chambers and Hunter One Trigger that I am considering having changed to double triggers. I used it duck hunting last year with BOSS lower pressure bismuth loads and it doubled on me, the first shot. Rest of the morning I used it as a single shot. It was a true double, as occurs when the second lock's sear slips out of bent at the recoil from the first barrel. Is this an inherent weakness of the HOT, or is it something that can be corrected by a good HOT 'smith? I've no problem with converting it to double triggers if it is a reversible job, so as not to ruin the originality of the gun. Advise on HOTs appreciated.
