Re: Removing side plates, 1906 SxS
Removing the screw should have nothing to do with that side firing. The only thing I can think of is that at one time someone tried putting the lock plate on and did not push the trigger forward and bent the trigger plate causing the opposite trigger to fire.
The easiest way is to put the right lock plate on and look through the hole on the left side of the stock and see if the sear from the right lock is touching the left top trigger plate.
