Mike - I was actually hoping that my post would stimulate some interest in this grade and that earlier A-1s would surface (that's the only way for us to gain more knowledge). Would love to see your A-1.
Tom - I have handled that 16 gauge A-1 and it's a nice gun, a little out of my price range though, I'll have to stick with my 12 gauge for now.
I shoot this A-1 on a regular basis at sporting clays, it's a joy to handle a with moderate RST loads and it does the job if I do my part. I can't tell you how many people come up to me and want to know about the gun and actually shoot it. When I tell them it's from 1893 the looks are priceless. If it promotes some interest in these old guns it's all worth it to me.
