Glad you like some of my less obvious inclusions Earle (call me Dave, by the way). I thought the baroque sound of the Left Banke with the harpsichord accompaniments and their (self-penned) haunting melodies were pure magic. I agree too that the Lemon Pipers were wrongly pigeon-holed - I won their 1st album in a competition - I didn't expect much but was blown away by the psych marathon "Through With You". My favourite Iron Butterfly album was harder to call, but I think they peaked on "Ball".

I never rated English psych that highly and saw the true origins of the genre in U.S. garages and on the West Coast. There used to be this perpetual argument about the first psychedelic 45 - some said Donovan's "Sunshine Superman" - the Prunes "Had Too Much To Dream" had my vote though you couldn't ignore the Byrds and "8 Miles High".
